About Kit

Hi, my name is Kit Hall.

I have been tattooing since 2004 and apprenticed under Drew Manley at Tattoo 702 in Richmond, VA.

I work at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago where I specialize in illustrative tattooing and am constantly pushing my limits as an artist and a technician.

Aside from my passion for tattooing I love riding bikes, drinking coffee and spending long lazy days with my daughter and husband.

If you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment, please come in for a consultation!

Consultations

To set up an appointment you will first need to come in for a consultation at either 11:45am or 7:30pm Monday through Thursday.

You do not need to set up an appointment for a consultation but I'd advise you call ahead to ensure I'm in that day.

An appointment will be scheduled once we've got a good idea what you'd like, how long it will take, etc.

My rate is $150/hour.

Aftercare

I am not a doctor or your friend whose advice you cherish above all else. I am a professional tattooer with a vested interest in your tattoo healing perfectly. I find the following aftercare heals tattoos quickly and keeps the color crisp and bright:

  1. Leave your bandage on 18-24 hours and at a minimum of overnight. Yes it is goopey and gross but it helps your tattoo heal. Do not leave your bandage on more than 24 hours and do not rebandage once the first 24 hours have passed.
  2. After you remove the bandage, wash the tattoo well using warm water and soap (Dial is fine). Do not use a wash cloth as they harbor bacteria.
  3. Once you have washed your tattoo pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel.
  4. Apply a light amount of Aquaphor or jojoba oil. I personally prefer healing my tattoos with jojoba oil which can be found at Whole Foods or your preferred natural foods store. If you plan to use Aquaphor, only use for two to three days and then switch to a regular unscented hand lotion. Do not use lotion before two to three days as it contains alcohol which will burn and may prolong the healing process. I recommend jojoba for my vegan clients as Aquaphor contains Lanolin. You may use jojoba until your tattoo is completely healed.

Any other aftercare questions may be directed to me via email or calling the shop at 773-549-1594.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm price shopping, can you give me a price?

I would be happy to quote you a price estimate during an in-person consultation. I find quoting prices over email can be misleading given the margin for miscommunication the medium allows. Meeting in person is the best way for me to understand what you want and quote you a fair price.

I don't know what I want, but I want a tattoo. Can you help me?

I'm glad to collaborate on projects, but you must have a general idea of what you would like.

I want a white or color lined tattoo, do you do them?

I don't, due to the fact that they typically don't hold up well over a long period of time. I suggest using black ink for outlines.

Do you use vegan ink/pigment?

No I do not. All of the inks I use are made with a base of vegetable glycerin but when it comes to the sourcing of the powdered pigment I cannot guarantee that the powdered pigment 100% vegan. Much of the time, especially with black, the powdered ingredient is labelled as "material" and I cannot ensure that "material" is vegan. That said, I do my best to use ink labelled vegan and organic.

Email

I receive a ton of email and cannot respond to all of it (though I try). I do not book appointments or quote prices over email.

That being said, you can send me email at: kithalltattoos@gmail.com
